The shortcomings of rain deepened the crisis of the Rajkot water

Rajkot: The severity of the water crisis in the Primary Minister Vijay Rajkot, can be measured from the fact that the city of Civic City has demanded Narmada from the state government during the future.
Usually Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) demands water under the Sauni State Government (Irrigation AVTAGA Saurashtra Narmada) YOJNA during the peak summer between April and June.
But this year, because of severe rainfall shortages, RMC has been looking for water Narmada, not once, but twice, to meet increasing demand in the city.
Rajkot City’s demand has increased to 340 MLD (million liters per day) of 280 MLD last year, mainly due to supply to new areas of joining under the body of Civic.
The main source of the city of Aji-1 Dam, which provides around 60% of the demand of the city, has water which will only last two weeks until September 10, the RMC source said.
“We have asked 335 MCFT (million cubic feet) of water under Sauni to continue to provide water for 20 minutes every day in the city of Rajkot,” said Commissioner of Rajkot City Amit Arora.
In June, RMC demanded 300 MCFT water under Sauni but only drawing 230 MCFT because the city received several good rain spells.
Now, in August, when the rainy season is at its peak, RMC has asked the state government to provide Narmada water which must pay Rs 6 per 1,000 liters.
According to RMC, Air Narmada will reach Aji Dam on September 3.
Aji and looking for the dam are two main sources of water for Rajkot City.
A small portion of 40 MLD water is taken from Bhadar-1 Dam.
Water from Bhadar-1 Dam is reserved to supply drinking water to rural areas of Rajkot.
According to resources in RMC, the water crisis during the rainy season is expected to deteriorate over the next few months if the rain plays skipping.
The Rajkot district has just received 37% of the average rainfall until August 26.
RMC has started a pilot project to provide 24-hour water supply in the city, but it must also be detained because of the scarcity of water caused by rain.
