New Delhi: The encrypted chat application signal has announced new updates to the missing message feature.
Messaging applications will now allow anyone to turn the default timer to disappear messages.
The signal introduces the missing message feature in 2016.
This feature removes chat for senders and recipients after a certain time limit.
Previously, users must activate the option and also choose the time interval for each individual conversation.
With this new update, the company aims to reduce storage space and also limit the number of conversation history.
What time is the duration to set missing messages? This application offers nine options to set a timer to disappear messages.
You can set a timer from 30 seconds to 4 weeks.
How does the message missing on the signal differ from it on WhatsApp and Telegram? With this new update, the signal now supports the ability to configure all conversations that you initiate with the default timer.
Users can now set the duration of the timer specifically to their conversation so that some content can be lost in 60 seconds and others can exist for 18 minutes or 4 weeks.
On the other hand, you have to manually set the message to the WhatsApp for all individual chat.
This application also does not offer special timers and chat will disappear after 7 days.
Meanwhile, telegram users first have to activate the secret chat on the application to use the missing message feature.
Can the receiver take the screens’ catch from the message that disappears? The signal has also warned the user that the missing message feature cannot guarantee maximum privacy because the recipient can take screenshots from the message.
How to activate lost messages on Desktopstep 1: First, open the signal application on the desktop and open the ‘file’ followed by a ‘preference’.
Step 2: After clicking the ‘preferences’ option, scroll down and find ” default timer for the new chat option under the ‘missing message’.
Now select ‘off’ from the Dropdown option to fidact with the default missing message timer for the new chat.
Step 3: You can also choose one option to set the message time settings that disappear default.
Step 4: Now you can click on the ‘custom time’ option and select Timer according to your preferences and click ‘Set’.
How to set missing messages on SmartPhonesStep 1: First open the signal application on your smartphone.
Step 2: Now Tap on three point points in the upper right corner and then select ‘Settings’ Step 3: Now Go to ‘Privacy’ from the Settings page where you will display the ‘default timer for the new chat under the Lost Message’ section .
Step 4: You can now choose the duration as needed.
After selecting the ‘Save’ to confirm the change.
