Guwahati: The situation of the flood in Assam deteriorated on Monday with two people lost their lives and more than 3.63 lakh people suffering from floods in 17 districts, said an official bulletin.
According to the State Disaster Management Authority Assam (ASDMA), one child sank in a flood in Chenga in the Barpeta district and Mayong in Morigaon.
More than 3.63,100 people are influenced by floods in Barpeta, Biswanath, Cachar, Chirang, Darrang, Dhemuji, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Jorhat, Kamrup, West Karbi Anglong, Lakhimpur, Morigaon, Nagaon, Nalbari, Naga, Sonitpur Regency, Salmara South and Tinsukia, he said.
Lakhimpur is the worst district with more than 1.3 lakh people who suffer, followed by majuli with nearly 65,000 people and Darrang with more than 41,300 people affected.
Until Sunday, more than 2.58 Lakh people were influenced by flooding in 14 countries.
At present, 950 villages are underwater and 30,333.36 hectares of harvest areas have been damaged by Assam, said Asdma.
Authorities run 44 relief camps and distribution centers in 10 districts, where 1,619 people, including 321 children, took refuge, he said.
Bulletin stated that various assistance agents have evacuated 470 people from various parts of the country.
Authorities have distributed 621.34 quintals of rice, dal and salt, 578.82 liters of mustard oil, 100 animal feed quintals and other flood relief items.
Massive erosion witnessed in Barpeta, Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Morigaon, Nalbari and South Salmara District, said Bulletin.
Other roads and infrastructure have been damaged by floods in Barpeta, Darrang, Golaghat, Morigaon, Nagaon, Sivasagar, Lakhimpur, and Tinsukia, said Asdma.
As many as 2.56,144 domestic animals and poultry were influenced by flooding, he added.
According to a report issued by the Central Air Commission, Brahmaputra flowed in a normal flood situation into Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Sonitpur, Destination District, Kamrup and Dhubri.
