Guwahati: The situation of flooding in Assam deteriorated on Thursday with nearly 86,000 people affected by flooding in five districts, a official bulletin said.
According to a daily flood report from the Disaster Management Authority Assam (Asdma), Bongaigaon was the worst affected by almost 53,000 people in trouble, followed by Dhemaji (more than 16,000) and Chirang (more than 13,200).
At present, 174 villages are underwater and 5,147.34 hectares of harvest areas have been damaged by Assam, said Asdma.
It was said by the authorities to run 34 relief camps and distribution centers in four districts, where 6,592 people had sheltered.
Roads, bridges, culvises and other infrastructure have been damaged by flood water in several districts, added the bulletin.
