Ranchi: The situation of flooding in Sahebanj deteriorated on Thursday after rising the waters of the Ganges River flooded one more Panchayat and partly affected two Panchayats again, which in turn, had almost 21,000 people.
Meanwhile, Ranchi’s Office of the Indian Meteorology Department on Thursday predicted light to moderate at Jharkhand on Friday.
It also predicted that the North-General District of the state, including Sahebanjj, would spread rain (15.6 mm – 64 mm rain) in the next 24 hours.
The district government deployed two units of national disaster response personnel, one unit consisting of 25 men, respectively, in Block Sahebganj and Rajmahal to evacuate the affected citizens from their flooded homes and their livestock.
Assimilated statistics by administrative officials said a total of 2.65 lakh people were influenced by the flood.
“The level of damage can only be evaluated as well as water levels,” said Deputy Sahebanjan Ram Niwas Yadav to Ti by telephone.
As many as three people, including two babies, have died with sinking so far.
The Chairperson of the Minister of Hemant Soren, who camped in Patna Village in the Constituency Area of the District Barhait Assembly, also curled district officials on Thursday to take stock situations.
Soren, who took the air tour in the areas affected by the flood on Wednesday, on Thursday directing officers to ensure that the affected family was given dry rations and cooked food.
A total of 10 of the 74 assistance camps were occupied in the district on Thursday, each of which had around 70 people.
Families affected by floods are provided by 25 kg of rice, milk and dry feed for those who have livestock.
The Central Air Commission (CWC) said the water level in Ganges was at 28.90 meters at 6 am on Thursday, which was higher than the danger level of 27.25 meters.
“Some points along the river like Buxar Ghat, Patna, Hathidaa, Munger and Kahalgaon have recorded water levels above the danger sign,” CWC said.
Yadav said the district administration attracted comfort from the fact that CWC expected a gradual decrease in water levels from Friday and so on.
