The state allows facilities ‘overdraft’ to pay their relatives who are killed by wild animals

Nagpur: In a big assistance to the Ministry of Forestry, which graplaps with the worst human-human conflict, the state government has restored a negative budgeting system.
This allows compensation payments to kill humans and livestock, and plant silencers even when there is no money in the account.
The state government pays RS15 Lakh compensation for relatives of victims who die in attacks of wild animals.
If there are limited funds, or if the funds have disappeared, there are provisions to pay money to Kin, but the Ministry of Finance has attracted this facility last March because Covid-19 triggers crisis funds.
This scheme has been introduced in 2010-11 in the Budget Distribution System (BDS), which allows overdraft to make payments to kill cattle, plant damage and kill humans by wild animals.
“Negative budgeting begins from September 3.
This is a great support from the government of Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA).
In the face of delayed compensation to the relatives of the victims, forest officials are always at the end of the recipient.
In addition, it also leads to revenge of animal revenge Wild in the time and anger of the community, “said Sunil Limaye, PCCF (wildlife), Maharashtra.
According to the estimation (aite) all India -2018, there are 312 tigers and 1,690 leopards in Maharashtra, leaps from 190 tigers and 905 leopards starting in 2014.
This has led to an increase in animal conflicts with 88 people killed in wild animal attacks in the year 2020, and 57 in the last 8.5 months.
This year, 3,185 cows killed and 7,794 cases of plants were reported.
Limaye said, “We pursue a lot with the government to restore negative budgeting.
In July, I personally met the Finance Minister Ajit Pawar in Pune on this issue.
He was sure and agreed to the principle to do what was needed.
Finally, the decision has been taken.” Pradeep Kumar , PCCF (Budget, Planning & Development), said, “Now local officers will be able to pay compensation even if money is not in the Department of Forestry Account.” With increasing human-animal conflicts, in 2019-20, budget expenditure for human murder and livestock and plant damage compensation is RS40 Crore.
In 2020-21, RS78 Crore was spent in this head.
“In 2021-22, considering Spurt in the conflict, the provisions of the RS80 Crore were made.
From here, we demand RS29 Crore and receive RS20 Crore, which has been distributed through the Budget Distribution System (BDS),” Pradeep Kumar said.
