The state cannot provide everything to homeless: HC

Mumbai: The state cannot provide everything to homeless people, observing the Bombay High Court on Saturday while hearing pills to continue relief for them as provided during the last lock.
Chairman of Judge Datta and Justice Gires Kulkarni heard pills by Brijesh Arya, a member of the homeless – a forum of organizations working with homeless people in Mumbai – that Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) must continue food relief, drinking water and free access to the public toilet.
At the previous trial, BMC was asked to inform the way the shelter would be available for homeless people as directed at other pills.
The state advocate said that Arya is a member of the monitoring committee and has access to information about shelter.
The judges ask whether the home shelter scheme provides “they (homeless) must also work for the country.” “It is impossible after taking refuge, they will roam.
Everyone works for livelihoods.
Everything cannot be provided by the government,” Justice Kulkarni said.
Advocate Arya Kranti LC said that once the homeless people were put into a sanctuary, it would facilitate the work scheme for them.
“Only so they will work? You encourage the population of these people,” Justice Kulkarni said.
The judges who discarded pills that record that the state and BMC with the help of NGOs take steps in their capacity to provide food, water, women’s sanitary napkins among other things to homeless people and no need to add distribution.
They direct that public toilets are available for homeless homes for free.
