Nagpur: Congress Unit Unit Maharashtra Nana Patole said the state government must approach the Supreme Court again and request a center to share empirical data related to other backup (OBC).
The APEX court has last week said local agency polls cannot be delayed by the state government because they are under the PurView of the State Election Commission.
Talking about the command of the Supreme Court, Patole said it was time for the country to approach the country’s top field.
“The state must get data related to OBC from the center, through the Supreme Court,” said Patole.
“Our stand is very clear, the OBC community should not be seized from the benefits in the upcoming local agency poll.
In fact, the All-Party meeting in Maharashtra has agreed to this,” Patole said.
MLA from Sakoli implies that the central government must see an increase in reservation limits.
“Opposition leaders talk about the Indra Sawney case but then the parliament is the highest legal entity in the country.
He has the authority to make constitutional changes.
And if by doing that some restient communities benefit, so be it.” Patole said.
In the context of the same OBC booking, Patole also questioned Ashutosh Kumbhakoni’s retention as a state of state advocates even after government change in 2019.
“He has lost several cases while representing the country, so I feel that the reason for this need is investigated.
Usually, when the government changes, Likewise AG, but this time it hasn’t happened, “Patole said.
“In 2017, on a circular basis, the government then did not allow the Nagpur Zilla Parishad poll to continue.
Kumbhakoni is AG at that time,” Patole said.
“Actually, after a local term ended, they could not continue and administrators must be appointed.
But at that time Nagpur ZP continued to operate for two years while the problem was in court.
On what basis do they do it? And now we are asked to hold a poll Without OBC reservation, “said Patole.
Referring to Kumbhakoni into AG State in both scenarios, Patole said the state government must be ‘looked at him’.
“It does cause suspicion and it is our duty to bring such problems with government notice,” said Patole.
