Khartoum: The Sudanese military plans to return the prime minister who was overthrown by Abdalla Hamdok for weeks of riots triggered by the coup, Fadlallah Burma Nasir, Head of the Party of Umma, told Reuters.
Hamdok will form an independent technocrat cabinet, and all political prisoners will be released under the agreement between military and civilian parties, Nasir said, who attended negotiations that lead to the agreement.
The Sovereign Council will hold an urgent meeting on Sunday before announcing the agreement, the source said with the knowledge of the conversation.
It is not clear how much the power of freedom and changing the civil coalition that has shared power with the military will be part of the agreement.
Activist groups lead protests since the coup has demanded that the military out of politics.
Media advisor Abdel Fattah Military Leader Al-Burhan could not be contacted immediately for comments.
Hamdok was placed under house arrest when the military seized power on October 25, transiring the transition to democracy agreed after the overthrow of Autocrat Omar al-Bashir in 2019.
The military dissolved the Hamdok cabinet and detained a number of civilians held.
The top position based on the power sharing agreement agrees with the military after Ouster Bashir.
Following the coup, Hamdok has demanded the release of all political prisoners and returned to the division of power as a prerequisite for negotiating, according to sources close to him.
The coup triggered a mass demonstration campaign against the military, and activists called for further protests on Sunday.
Western power that supports Sudan’s political transition condemned takeover and suspend some economic assistance to Sudan.
