The Supreme Court cleared widening Jalan Char Dham considering security issues

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday allows a double lane (DLPS) shoulder for the Dham Char Road project given security issues.
The Supreme Court’s decision came after the border security and the importance of strategic armed forces.
SC bench led by Justice D Y Chandrachud said the obstacle spread the balance between strategic road widening requirements that were important for national security and the principle of sustainable development that rooted against the environment.
SC is a supervisory committee led by EX-SH Judge A K Sikri for the implementation of environmental protection for three strategic roads, recommended by HPC.
However, it clarifies that the supervision committee will not conduct a fresh environmental assessment.

The court heard a central application that was looking for modifications from the order of September 8, 2020, which had requested the Ministry of Road Transportation and Highway (Morth) to follow the 2018 circular sension path of 5.5 meters on the Ambitious Chardham Highway Project, which was running.
