Mumbai: mucormycosis, black fungal infections that worsen the impact of the second delta wave in India, not yet lost from the Covid ward in the city.
A 70-year-old child admitted to South Mumbai Hospital with Covid on January 12 developed mukormycosis on the third day and needed a complicated debridement (removal of affected tissue) on the cheeks and around the eyes.
