The suspect in stabbing Rabi is now facing hate crime charges

Boston: A man who has been charged with rabbi outside the Jewish school in Boston is now facing violations of additional racial crimes, the prosecutor said Thursday.
Khaled Awad, who was originally from Egypt, arrived in the US with a biased view of Jews, Christians, and American culture, Assistant Suffolk, Margaret Hegarty said during court hearing.
Witnesses who knew or interacted with Awad told investigators, he would be angry if his vision was challenged, he said.
“The witnesses also noticed that the suspect would be stereotypical various differences in racial groups and behavior, which included white people, blacks and that he was very loud in the Jews,” said the prosecutor.
AWAD, 24, who has lived in Boston, was charged with Thursday with civil rights violations that caused injury and intimidation with a body injury, the prosecutor said.
He had claimed not to be guilty of the attack and battery with dangerous weapons and six other accusations in connection with the stabbing July 1 Rabbi Shlomo Noginski outside Shaloh’s house in the city of Brighton.
“We believe this is rooted in antisemitism,” said Rachael Rollins District lawyer outside the court.
Noginski, Israeli citizen with 12 children, was stabbed several times on the arm and was released from the hospital a day after stabbing.
Awad was seen acting suspicion near Shaloh’s house the day before the attack, when he first demanded the key to the Noginski car, said Hegarty.
In addition, Noginski wore Yarmulke and Awad had to walk past Menorah, suggested that he target Jews, the prosecutor said.
The attack was condemned by the Boston Jewish community.
Awad court offer lawyer, Stephen Wymouth, requested competency evaluation.
A court doctor told the judge that AWAD had been diagnosed as bipolar and had not taken his medicines while in Massachusetts.
“Competence can be a problem,” Weymouth said in court.
He also rejected the idea that the club was racial crime, and said it was more likely “chance crime” in an effort to steal vehicles.
Awad was ordered to undergo further psychiatric evaluation at the State Hospital.
The dangerous hearing scheduled for Thursday was postponed until July 29, after evaluation.
