Selma, Alabama: A man sought in the shooting of an Alabama police officer who was shot in an ambush while making a lunch break was arrested, the authorities said Wednesday.
Javonte Stubbs, 18, was arrested last night in the shooting of Marquis Moorer Selma Police officers and who hurt Moorer’s wife or boyfriend, Dallas District Lawyer Michael Jackson said.
Stubbs was charged with capital murder and tried the murder after his arrest in the apartment in Tuscaloosa, Jackson said.
He was taken to prison in the Chilton County countryside and set for a Friday morning hearing in Selma, he said.
Court notes are not immediately available to show whether Stubbs have a lawyer who can speak of his name.
Jackson said Stubbs was previously a star soccer player at the South School Selma.
Officials in Selma scheduled Noontime press conference to discuss this case.
Moorer was on duty and returned to get a bite to eat early on Tuesday in an apartment complex where he lived when he was shot, the authorities said.
The shot was fired from the outside, killing officers and injuring other people in the residence in Selma Square Apartments, said Attorney General Steve Marshall.
The authorities have not released the name of the woman being shot.
He was hospitalized but no additional information available.
