New Delhi: The Indian Premium SUV market was getting hotter that day.
After the launch of Kushaq by Skoda and Taigun by Volkswagen, other new participants – Astor by MG Motor – has come to challenge the dominance of the Hyundai Creta market leader and Kia Seltos in one of the best-selling segments in the country.
Astor, who came only with gasoline options, was launched at an aggressive entry price of Rs 9.8 lakh (former showroom, Delhi) for a 1.5 liter engine, and marked the MG to the heart of the Indian car market.
The automatic version of the top-end vehicle, which uses a 1.3-liter turbo engine, comes to RS 16.8 lakh.
MG Motor, a subsidiary of China Saic, currently sells greater and the Morepremium Hector SUV, which was launched in 2019, and ZS Electric (Astor shared the platform by green cars).
MG has worked on a series of new cars for the Indian market but has been disabled by the restrictions faced in production capacity.
The company has an annual capacity of 80,000 cars in its hall mill.
