The Swedish parliament will choose the first female PM

Stockholm: The Swedish parliament seems to be electing Minister of Finance Magdalena Andersson as the first female prime minister on Wednesday, hours after he grabbed the last minute deal that secured the main support.
The 54-year-old child, who took over as a social Democratic leader earlier this month, reached an agreement with the left party on Tuesday to increase retirement in return for his support in parliament.
“We have reached an agreement to strengthen the poorest retirees,” Andersson told the Public Broadcaster SVT minutes after the agreement was announced.
“We will not block Andersson,” Leader Party leader Nooshi Dadgostar told Sweden radio.
Under the Swedish system, a prime minister candidate does not need majority support in parliament – but rather, they only need to not have the majority of them.
Andersson has received support from the partner of the Social Democratic Coalition, and also the central party.
However, political observers noted that there are still a few opportunities for central parties to thwart Andersson’s offer.
Previously warned that it could withdraw its support if he acknowledged too much land to the left party.
The leader of the Central Party Party Annie Loof refused to comment on Monday night with the left agreement with Andersson.
Voting will take place at 0800 GMT.
If selected, Andersson formally will take over his function after the meeting with King Carl XVI Geraf on Friday.
He will replace Stefan Lofven, who resigned on November 10 after seven years as prime minister in the expected movement aimed at giving his replacement time to prepare for the September 2022 local elections.
Social Democrats are currently floating close to their lowest approval rankings with elections less than a year.
Right-wing opposition, led by conservative moderate, has been in the past few years the Swedish Democrats are anti-immigration and hope to rule with informal support.
Despite being a nation that has gender equality fought for long, Sweden never has a woman as prime minister.
All other Nordic countries – Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland – have seen women lead their government.
After being confirmed as the Social Democratic leader, Andersson, a former junior swimming champion was often described as “pragmatic” and “technocratic bureaucrats”, outlining three advanced political priorities.
He said he wanted “to take back democratic school controls, health care and elderly care”, and stay away from the privatization of the welfare sector.
He also said he aims to make Sweden a role model throughout the world in the climate transition.
And he vowed to end the separation, shooting, and bombings that had disturbed the state in recent years, usually because rival gangs settled or committed organized crime above the drug market.
This violence has reached a disadvantaged environment with a large immigrant population, but increasingly spilled into other regions.
In 2020, 47 people were killed in shooting 366 in 10.3 million countries, according to official statistics.
There are also 107 bombings and 102 trial detonation.
Crime and immigration are expected to be among the main concerns of Sweden in next year’s election.
Political analyst Universitas Lund Anders Sannerstedt estimates to be a “close race”.
“At present four parties to the exact command of 174 seats (in parliament), while four parties on the left have 175 seats.
Polls recently showed approximately the same,” he said.
Sannerstedt said he hoped “there were no major changes” in policies from the government led by Anderson.
