Ranchi: Member of the State Tribe Advisory Council (TAC) is planning a parade to Raj Bhavan anytime after the Chhath Festival to file a memorandum to the president through the governor, demanding the inclusion of the Sarna code in the upcoming national census.
The last TAC meeting held under the leadership of the Head of Minister Hemant Soren has decided to send a formal proposal for Sarna’s code separate to President RAM Nath Kovind.
A many other decisions were taken at a meeting in the middle of boycotting by BJP opposition.
More than a month later, several members of the tribe parliament were annoyed with delays demanding the powerful dispensation acted quickly.
“The faster delegation gives formal representatives with the demand for Sarna code, the better because this has become a long request to wait for adivasis.
Because the Sarna code has become a major poll board for the coalition obligation partners, we should not delay further after TAC is too official ratification , “Mla said, he did not want to be named.
Earlier this week, Mandar Mla Bandhu Tirkey, who was also one of the presidents of work together from the ruling Congress Party here, met with the Chairman of the Minister of Hemant Soren for an appointment with the governor.
Speaking with TOI on Sunday, Tirkey, who is a member of the TAC, added, “CM gave me a positive guarantee and we hope that we will soon meet the Governor.
Even though there is no special timeline communicated to me, CM implies that it can happen after Chhath .
“Vice-Chairman of the TAC and JMM MLA from Seraikela, Champai Soren as well, assuring that they are serious about this issue.
“Whatever decision we take in TAC will definitely be fulfilled.
About Sarna code, we will start steps after Chhath.
Because of a series of festivals in the past month, we cannot look for time from Raj Bhavan,” he said by telephone.
A few days before the last TAC meeting in September, the main minister also led the delegation of all parties to the Interior Minister Amit Shah about this issue along with the demand for a national census based on the caste line.
However, the Minister of Compassion, reportedly stated the government’s inability to accept demands.
After that, the Government of Soren held a TAC meeting to write further modalities on this issue.
Last year, the resolution for the inclusion of the Sarna code was also passed by the State Assembly to send proposals to the center.
The demand for the inclusion of the Sarna code in the census, which is said to be to maintain their different identity, has become a long unmet request from Jharkhand.
Champai said the state government wholeheartedly supports it and will do everything needed under its jurisdiction against it.
