Kabul: The day after forming a new caregiver, the Taliban on Wednesday arrested five Etilatroz journalists, a daily newspaper, in Kabul.
The arrest information was distributed by Editor Leader Etilatroz, Zaki Daryabi.
“Five journalists from Etilatroz, a daily newspaper in Kabul, has been arrested by the Taliban, Zaki Daryabi, editor at the head of the newspaper, said today,” Tweeted Tolo News.
Previously, the Taliban had promised international organizations that it would respect journalist rights and freedom of expression.
A group of UN human rights experts has asked all countries to provide urgent protection to Afghan journalists and media workers who are afraid of their lives and persecution in a war-hit country.
“Journalists and media workers, especially women, face high risk since the Taliban Afghan political takeover,” the UN words of the human special procedure said the United Nations.
Meanwhile, the Taliban appointed several hardlines in his new government which oversees a 20-year battle against a US-led military coalition.
The list announced by spokesman Chief Zabihullah Mujahid was dominated by the member of the group’s old guard.
