The Taliban government made an all-out effort to ensure that Afghan land was not used against any country: Muttaqi

Islamabad: The government led by the Taliban in Kabul is making an all-out effort to ensure that the land is not used against any country, Afghanistan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi said here on Friday.
Muttaqi, who led the delegation of 20 members on a three-day visit to Pakistan, revealed the view while speaking the seminar at the Institute of Islamic Strategic Studies of Islamabad.
Muttaqi denies the existence of anti-Pakistani elements in his country, assuring that the government led by the Taliban made an all-out effort to ensure that Afghan land was not used against any country, the Dawn newspaper reported.
Muttaqi said that Afghan land was not used against Pakistan.
“At present, there are no anti-Pakistani elements present in Afghanistan,” he said as quoted by Geo News.
Muttaqi’s comments came a day after senior officials from the US, China, Russia and Pakistan on Thursday called the Taliban to decide on the relationship with all international terrorist groups and to deny space for any militant organization operating in the country when taking steps to form the government “Inclusive and representative” in Kabul.
The Troika meeting which was expanded by Afghan’s special representatives from four countries in Islamabad reviewed the latest situations in Afghanistan and said that it was expected that the Taliban would fulfill their commitment to prevent the use of the Afghan region by terrorists to neighboring countries and throughout the world.
During the seminar, Muttaqi also confirmed that the temporary government in Kabul had facilitated talks between the prohibited group Tearek-i-Taliban (TTP) and the Government of Pakistan.
However, he held back not to describe the role of the Minister of Internal Affairs Afghanistan Sirajuddin Haqqani, who used to head the Haqqani network that was feared – the deepest faction of the Taliban – in negotiations.
TTP, commonly known as Pakistan Taliban, is a militant group forbidden which is based along the Afghan-Pakistan border.
It has carried out a number of major terror attacks in Pakistan and reportedly used Afghan land to plan a terrorist attack in Pakistan.
Earlier this week, Pakistani Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry announced that a complete ceasefire had been achieved between the government and TTP.
At the same time, Chaudhry said that the government while Afghanistan had facilitated negotiations – the claim relegated by TTP itself.
Muttaqi, on his first visit to Pakistan since the hard group of Islamists took control of Afghanistan in mid-August, expressing hope that the talks between the two parties would be expanded and welcomed the ceasefire achieved between the Pakistani government and TTP.
“We hope that the temporary ceasefire agreed between the Pakistani and TTP government will lead to permanent peace,” he added.
