KABUL: Taliban has offered a three-month weapon ceasefire in return for the release of 7,000 residencies, a Negotiator of the Afghanistan government said on Thursday, when militant groups continued to sweep throughout the country.
“This is a big demand,” said Nader Nadery, the main member of the government team involved in peace talks with the Taliban, adding rebels also demanding the abolition of their leaders’ names from the UN blacklist.
Not immediately clear how the government would react to the ceasefire offer, which came as the United States accelerated the pace of troops due to completion on August 31.
Wahyu Nadery came when Pakistani security forces used Thursday’s tear gas to dissolve hundreds of people who tried to impose their way across the border from Chaman to rotate Baskak in Afghanistan.
The border was closed Wednesday by Pakistani officials after the Taliban confiscated Spin Baskak and lifted the rebel flag in the city.
“A difficult horde of around 400 people tried to cross the gate by force.
They threw stones, which forced us to use tear gas,” said a security official on Pakistan.
He said around 1,500 people had gathered on Wednesday’s border waiting to cross.
Jumadad Khan, a senior government official in Chaman, said the situation is now “controlled”.
The Sumber Afghanistan Taliban told AFP that hundreds of people also gathered on the Afghan side, hoping to travel in the other direction.
“We talked to Pakistani authorities.
Formal meetings to open the border are scheduled today, and hopefully, it will open in one or two days,” he said.
The intersection provides direct access to Pakistan Balochistan Province – where Top Taliban leadership is based on decades – along with unknown number of reserve fighters who regularly enter Afghanistan to help increase their rankings.
The main highway that leads to the border connects to the commercial capital of Pakistan Karachi and its port in the Arabian Sea, which is considered Linchpin for the trading of the Afghan Billion Heroin Heroin which has provided an important source of income for the Taliban Warpin for many years.
Spin Boldak is the latest in a series of border crossings and dry ports confiscated by militants in recent weeks when they look strangled the many income needed by Kabul while also filling their own cash.
“The bazaar is closed and traders are afraid that the situation will change badly,” Mohammad Rasoul, a trader at Spin Boldak, told AFP by telephone.
“They are afraid that their products will be looted.
There are a number of opportunists waiting to loot.” Muska Dastager, a lecturer at Afghan American University, said the Taliban weapons offer is likely to be their effort to consolidate the position they have obtained so fast in a few weeks.
“The ceasefire will now effectively prohibit and reclaim the important border points captured by the Taliban recently,” he tweeted, referring to Afghan forces.
“I think the time of the ceasefire offer has more connection with their desire to consolidate power over these areas.” At least one Kabul resident said the Taliban could not be trusted.
“Last year the government released 5,000 Taliban detainees but their release did not bring peace,” Ahmad Jawed said.
“On the contrary, most of them are now fighting government forces.” Now they ask 7,000 prisoners to be released.
That is a big number.
“The authorities last year released more than 5,000 Taliban prisoners to help start peace talks in Doha, but so far it failed to achieve political settlement, and the latest attacks showed militants now set in the military.
