KABUL: Taliban fighters have advanced far to Holdout Panjshir Afghan Valley, with fighting fighters saying they take care of Islamists in the bay, but analysts warn they are struggling.
Emergency Emergency Help Emergency, which manages hospitals in Panjshir, said Taliban troops have reached the village of Pabah, where they run the surgical center.
“Many people fled the local villages in the past few days,” Emergency said in a statement on Saturday, adding it continues to provide medical services.
“So far there is no disruption with emergency activities,” he said.
“We have received a small number of people who are injured in the surgical center.” Painabah is located about 25 kilometers (15 miles) north in a long valley of 115 km, but the report that has not been confirmed suggested the Taliban also seized another area.
Bill Roggio, managing the US-based Long War Journal Editor, said the week that there was still a “war fog” with an unconfirmed report, the Taliban had captured many districts – but “it looks bad”.
Both parties claim to have caused severe losses with each other.
“The Taliban army has been toughened by 20 years of war, and did not make mistakes, the Taliban trained troops,” Roggio Tweet on Sunday, added that the “opportunity long” for Panjshir’s resistance.
“The Taliban army was injected with a large number of weapons and ammunition after the US withdrawal and the collapse of Ana” (Afghan National Army), he added.
Fighters in Panjshir lasted for a decade against the Soviet military and also the first Taliban regime from 1996-2001.
Ali Maisam Nazary – who is not in Panjshir but still becomes a spokesperson for resistance – boasting the week that resistance “will never fail”.
But former Vice President Amrullah Saleh, who was HOLED in Panjshir with Ahmad Massoud – son of the legendary anti-Taliban commander Ahmad Shah Massoud – warned a gloomy situation.
Saleh in a statement talking about “large-scale humanitarian crisis”, with thousands “moved by Taliban attacks”.
Pro-Taliban social media has bragged about capturing valley plots, but Nick Waters from the Bellingcat Investigation Web site says posts do not include photos that can be verified to support claims.
“It would be easy enough to verify videos that show the Taliban in the Panjshir valley,” said Waters.
Panjshir valley, surrounded by serrated snow-covered peaks, offered a natural defensive advantage, with melting fighters in front of advanced troops, then launched an ambush shooting from high peak to the valley.
