Coimbatore: The 31-year-old taxi driver was found dead in a suspicious state in Onampalayam near Thondaamuthur here on Wednesday morning.
The Thondafuthur police identified the deceased like S Shanu, a Mahalingapuram resident near Vellatore.A driver with a taxi aggregator, Shanu had received a booking to the city airport on Tuesday night and the customer wanted him to pick him up from the recreational club near Onampalayam, a police officer said.
When his friends could not contact him by telephone after 9:15 a.m., they initially thought it was possible for some network problems.
However, his family member launched his search on Wednesday morning, because Shanu did not return home.
Meanwhile, a shepherd saw Shanu’s body next to his vehicle on Jalan Onampalayam and told the local residents, who told Thonbamuthur police.
The police sent the body to Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital for postmortem.
“Cash and two cellphones he brought Shanu with him lost,” the officer said.
