Ludhiana: With the festival season around the corner and the threat of the third covid wave that might tower, the number of tests per million has dropped to around 1,500-mark.
The Ministry of Health said they would increase testing during the festival season.
Therefore, there has been a drop of 32%.
Every day on average, 2,464 tests per million are carried out from August 18 to 24; 2,880 in the week ended August 20; 2,033 from 6 to 12 August; 2,158 from July 27 to August 2.
The highest number (3,950) is recorded on June 3.
Parameters, Ludhiana are in eighth place in the state.
Gurdaspur has the highest test per million (3,058) from 17 to 23 September, followed by Pathankot (1,988) and SAS Nagar (1,937).
Fazilka has the lowest in 579.ON August 31, second Ludhiana in the state with 2,262 tests per million.
Epidemiologist District Dr.
Ramesh Bhagat said, “Ludhiana made more tests compared to other districts.
Against the daily target of 9,500, this district conducted 7,000 to 8,000 tests per day.
Testing will increase during the festival season.” A health department officer said, “Testing , patient identification and isolation are the main strategies to examine this disease.
“Some Covid cases were reported in the district despite fewer tests.
If more people are tested themselves, the number will be higher.
More tests are needed to contain diseases during the festival season,” said former President Dr.
Sunil Katyal.The district versus the state of Ludhiana has 1,538 tests per million in the week ending September 23, the state has 1,235.
