New Delhi: Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana on Wednesday launched an e-fir application where people will be able to directly file complaints about incidents such as “home theft” and “theft”, police said.
Asthana said the online firs inn for property theft will help the police quickly solve such cases.
“Direct online lodging for the property was stolen in Delhi through an investigation officer of web facilities to complete the investigation and documentation and disposal of a timely case to reduce fat in the police station and court,” he said.
The e-FIR application for registration of ‘the theft cases “is a milestone in a series of web applications developed by Delhi police to allow complainants to register fir and receive the same copy instantly without going to the police station, police said.
“This transformation – free complexity registration and fast investigation and systematic documentation – has made the lives of residents simpler,” said Special Police Commissioner (Crime) Devesh Chandra Srivastva.
Registering application features, the police said through the complaint can be submitted anywhere at any time without actually going to the police station.
After registering complaints, a FIR will be submitted at the e-police office established under a branch of crime and has jurisdiction throughout Delhi, they said.
It will also cause instant delivery of a copy of the FIR signed digitally to the email ID of the complainant, the Sho area, senior officer, the appointed court, police said.
“IT (APP) has facilities guiding officer investigators to complete investigations and documentation along with management information systems (eg) for analysis and take precautions,” said Srivastva.
According to senior police officers, the application developed for Lodging FIR in theft cases must be hosted in a technically suitable place for smooth functions when the web application URL must have a link with the official Delhi police website www.delhipolice.

“The first time users for the application must register by giving a cellphone number and email ID.
One-time password (OTP) must be received by the user on the cellphone and the web via SMS and email,” he said.
