Guwahati: Police arrested one of the prime accused of the murder case of an old woman in Kalapahar here from the Bongaiga district early on Sunday.
The defendant was identified as Hasmat Ali.Police restored Rs 1.34 lakh and seven cellphones from the ownership of the defendant.
City police on Thursday arrested two accused of in connection with the case – Baharul Islam and Rubina.
The 60-year-old body -Pan Anu Hazarika, who used to live alone, recovered from his residence on February 7 Morning.
His legs and hands were found to be tied with a plastic band.
According to the family who lived on rent in place, the son and husband of the woman died a few years ago and a caregiver took care of him.
The police officer said, “We almost completed this case.
Two defendants were still running away.
But we will immediately arrest them.
We already have a few instructions.” Police said the investigation had revealed that five people had planned murder because they won property and money.
“We are examining bank accounts from women who have died if there is withdrawal,” he added.
