Gurgaon: Haryana will conduct a third sero survey in the last week of August.
This will include people who are fully vaccinated, those who have their first shot and those who have recovered from Covid.
Samples will also be taken from those who do not have covid or vaccine.
This study will take two to three days to complete it, said Rajeev Arora, ACS (Health), Haryana.
36,520 samples will be collected from 22 districts.
The previous state plans to collect 8,800 samples but revise the target to increase coverage in urban areas.
This study will involve sessions to determine the quantum of disease in the community and monitor viral transmission trends.
This is intended for designing and implementing appropriate detention measures.
“The highest number of samples – 3,000 – will be collected from Gurgaon, which will have 45 rustic groups and 30 urban areas,” said Dr.
Virender Yadav, Chief Medical Officer, Gurgaon.
He added that the district would conduct training sessions for staff participating in the survey.
Gurgaon will be followed by Noah with 2,720 samples, ambala (2,400), Karnal (2,200), Panpat (2,800), Bhiwani (1,800), Kurukshetra (1,720), SONEFAS (1,680), fatehabad, jhtak, jhajjar and Rohtak (1,600)) , Panchkula (1,520), Yambannagar and Kaital (1,480 respectively), REWARI (1,400), Faridabad and Hisar (1,320 respectively), Charchi Dadri (1,080), Mahendergarh (1,200), SANSA (1,000) and Palwal (8,000 ).
The Indian Medical Research Council (ICMR) has recommended the use of the original ELISA IGG test for antibody detection.
IgG antibodies usually begin to appear after two weeks of infection onset and usually lasts for several months.
Their detection is useful in understanding the proportion of populations exposed to SARS-COV-2 infection.
Haryana held two sero surveys last year – the first of August 19 to 21 and the second on October 19-20.
While 850 samples were collected from each district in the first survey, 720 samples were taken from each in the second.
