Lucknow: The new sero survey results for Covid-19 in Uttar Pradesh have shown that the number of antibodies to novel Coronavirus infection in children is common at a level that is almost the same as the adult population.
On the basis of the report, the state government said on Friday that it did not anticipate the high impact on its population under the age of 18 in the next Covid wave.
“During the first and second waves, it was found that children were both infected with Covid-19 as adults.
Furthermore, the sero survey has shown that antibodies against Covid are present in children with a level that is almost the same as the adult population,” said Secretary (ACS), Health, Amit Mohan Prasad said on Friday.
“We do not anticipate the high impact on children if the third wave touches the state.
We do not believe that children will bear the most covid burden, according to the wave and prevalence of previous antibody prevalence,” he added.
Prasad, however, said the government prepares with special critical care equipment for children and ordered special ventilators and bipap machines for them.
“Regular ventilators used for adults have also been found effectively for children.
We have these two types in front of the expected third wave,” he said.
Done from June 4 in all 75 top districts, the initial results of the Sero survey found antibodies in every second person – around 55-60% of the population, following the second covid wave.
This study included a sample lab test in three common populations, slums and those who had contracted Covid-19.
Replying to media requests at Covid’s death because of oxygen requirements, Prasad accepts that while oxygen is required during the second covid wave, demand is fulfilled by the state government.
“Covid death occurs because of the influence of diseases in the lungs and other reasons.
Oxygen is provided adequately by the government,” he said.
“Oxygen is also regulated from other countries such as Gujarat, Odisha, West Bengal and Jharkhand.
Oxygen management rises to target in the country and is fulfilled by all means,” he said.
