Surfside, USA: increased rescue efforts in the South Florida condominium building which collapsed facing a new threat from the weather as a tropical storm approached the country.
On Monday, lightning forced the crew to pause the search for victims of June 24 in Surfside and the garage area in the rubble full of water, officials said.
The latest forecast shows the tropical storm Elsa moves west, mostly saving South Florida, but the area near the building has collapsed to experience a thunderstorm, and another day of the weather that is not calm is expected.
Postponement of frustrated salvation crew, said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava.
“They really lived to save lives, and they had pushed forward whatever was thrown on their way,” he said at a night press conference.
Still, the crew gets a big boost when an unstable part of the Champlain Towers South Building down on Sunday.
Demolition – driven by concerns that the structure could fall – allow savior to be a place that was previously inaccessible, including the bedroom where people were believed to sleep during the disaster, officials said.
Four more victims were found, raising the death toll to 28 people.
117 other people remain countless.
“This site is more busy and more active now than I have ever seen since we started, now that the damaged building fell,” said Mayor Surfside Charles Burkett, added that heavy equipment can now move freely around the location.
Rescuers hope to get a clearer picture of voids that may be in debris when they are looking for anyone who is still trapped under the wing of the building that falls, but they found very little void, assistant fire extinguisher Miami-Dade Raide Badallah told members Family Monday.
No one was saved alive since the first hour after collapsing, but the savior was still holding back hopes to unite loved ones.
“We continued to stay focused on our main mission, and it did not leave the stone missed and found many people we could and to help bring some answers to families and loved ones or to bring some closure to them,” the city of the Captain of the Miami fire rescue, Ignatius Carroll said.
