When US countries and other countries accelerate efforts to make Afghanistan allies out of the country, Afghan journalists employed by foreign news organizations face a more dangerous route towards the salvation of the Taliban, and some have been killed.
Apart from the guarantee of amnesty by the regime, the more reports showed that the Taliban was looking for Afghan journalists and in some cases targeting them or their family members.
German public announcer Deutsche Welle reported on Thursday that the Taliban army who was looking for one of their journalists had killed one family member and was seriously injured.
“The Taliban clearly conducts organized searches for journalists in Kabul and the province,” Director Deutsche Welle, Peter Limbourg, said in a statement.
“Time is almost exhausted.” The announcer, along with several other leading German media outlets, urged the government of Chancellor Angela Merkel to help them secure a way out of Afghanistan for their employees and their families.
Last week, Amdullah Hamdard, 33, who translated for US special forces and then worked with the newspaper Die Zeit, killed by Taliban fighters in Jalalabad, the paper reported.
In the past few days, the New York Times publisher, Wall Street Journal and Washington Post were together in evacuating efforts to staff members and their families.
The publishers asked the Biden government to help facilitate the passing of their Afghan colleagues.
Zabihullah Mujahid, Taliban spokesman’s head, told reporters meeting on Tuesday that media outlets “could continue to be free and independently.” But on Thursday, the Taliban fighters beat two Afghan journalists while freeing protests at Jalalabad.
The Committee to protect journalists, a New York-based supervisory group, recorded another attack on journalists, including a fatal shooting on August 9 from radio station managers in Kabul, and kidnapping a reporter in Helmand Province.
Afghan press freedom group blamed the Taliban for both incidents.
An American journalist, Wesley Morgan, a tweet this week that the Taliban had searched for a home of Afghanistan translators who worked with him.
