Hubballi: Even when experts warn that someone widespread in front of Covid with the third wave just around the corner, people seem to ignore the Covid protocol.
For example, when the Chairman of the Minister of Balasavaraj Bommai was in Hubballi last week, hundreds of people gathered to welcome him to ignore Covid guidelines issued by the government.
With sidewalks subside, people look shopping and traveling without masks in the city.
Dwarwad Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil said they tried their best to create awareness among the public and enforce the Covid protocol in public places.
“People must also work with the authorities by wearing masks and maintaining social distance to curb the spread of the virus,” he added.
It is also the responsibility of political parties for the public interest, they must adhere to the Covid protocol strictly, he said.
“Additional power has been given to DC to enforce the restrictions.
If and when there is fear of a surge in Covid cases in this district, we will enforce difficult rules,” he added.
According to sources, district administration has deployed Marshal to enforce the Covid protocol and good people if they are found to violate the guidelines.
“I will talk to HDMC officials and the police department to enforce strict Covid guidelines and fine if people fail to fall in line,” he added.
Former Mla Madhu Bangarappa, who was in Hubballi to join Congress, said that a big meeting should not be held in the middle of a pandemic.
“People crush the events and situations like that change control, which creates more problems,” he said.
