Bharuch / Letter: The new ‘Narmada Maiya’ bridge was built on the Narmada River near the Golden Bridge in Bharuch was inaugurated by Deputy Chief of Minister Nitin Patel on Monday.
The RS 430-Crore Bridge built by the Department of Road and Building State Government is expected to make it easier for traffic on the bridge that is above the river that has witnessed a large traffic congestion since 2011.
Congestion up to 12-15 km witnessed on Narmada Bridge, especially When some repair work is on one of the bridges.
The Gujarat government has made a decision to build a ‘Narmada Maiya’ bridge in 2014 and allocated Rs 400 Crore for it.
The four-line bridge is 1.46km long with a length of 2.13 km and 1.47km high corridor.
The bridge will make Bharuch and Ankleshwar become a twin city in the real sense, Patel said.
The construction of the bridge is completed in 66 months.
“People from South Gujarat will benefit from the construction of a new bridge,” Patel said at the meeting at Ken Polytechnic Bharuch.
“It will also benefit Ankleshwar, Bharuch, Dahej, Vilalayat, Industrial Plantation Saykha who has to cross the river every day,” he said, adding that the 140-year-old golden bridge could be converted into a legacy bridge in the future.
, Deputy CM also made an announcement for Jalan Six Lajur from Gadkhol Patia to Jalan Ongc Ankleshwar at a cost of Rs.15.60 Crore, another bridge near Shravan Chokdi in Chokdi Dahej Chokdi.
