Port-au-Prince: The number of people, who have died as a result of the earthquake in Haiti, has increased to 2,189, an American news agency reported, citing the country’s civil protection body.
According to previous estimates, the death toll reached 1,941 people.
The 7.2 magnitude hit the Haiti beach on Saturday.
Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry announced that he would declare an emergency in the country after the earthquake and urged to solidarity in the face of disasters.
A number of countries have expressed their readiness to give Haiti with humanitarian aid.
