Hubballi: Head of Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday said that his priority gets the earliest Mhadei River project.
Popularly known as Kalasa-Bhandura Nala Projectin Karnataka, this project was carried out by the Government of Karnataka to increase the supply of drinking water to the district of Belayaavi, Bagalkot, Hubballi-Dharwad, and Gadag.
During his first visit to Hubballi on Thursday after being sworn in as the main minister on Wednesday, Bommai told reporters that he was quite aware of this problem and knew how to complete the project (Mhadei).
“My priority is to complete this project the earliest as soon as the center issues a notification of Gazettes in this matter,” he said.
In February, the dispute was completed after the central government told the final award about the Mhadai Water Dispute Court which allocated 13.42 thousand cubic feet of water to Karnataka, 24 TMCFT to Goa and 1.33 TMCFT to Maharashtra.
Last year, then the Minister of Environment Prakash Javadekar also asked Karnataka to start working at the Kalasa-Bhandura Nalaproject after notification of Gazettes about the court and forest and wildlife permits needed.
