Nagpur: The train board has asked all zones across the Indian train to prepare detailed project reports (DPRs) to increase several routes to 160 KMPJ.
The zone has been asked to submit the DPR in two months.
In a round issued on November 3 to all general managers, the train board has a principle that is approved to increase the speed of the train to 160kmph.
The decision was taken in 2017 when Suresh Prabhu was the train minister.
Except for some Routh, it’s not applied.
According to the source, the DPR must be sought to include these projects in the public budget next year.
Eight routes with a length of 9,268km throughout the country also covered 1,965 km of Mumbai-Howrah and 2,164km route Delhi-Chennai which passed Maharashtra.
South East Central Railway (SECR) and North Central Railway (NCR) have been asked to prepare the DPR for the route Mumbai-Howrah and Delhi-Chennai.
After in place, the train travel time on these parts will decrease dramatically.
The source said the update was 160kmph on the route Mumbai-Delhi and Delhi-Howrah approved in 2017-18.
The work is underway and is expected to be completed between 2023-2024.
Over the past three years, the maximum speed in several quadrilateral parts of gold and diagonal gold was raised to 130kmph from 110kmph before.
Vikas Kumar Kashyap, Senior Division Commercial Manager SECR (SRDCM), said, “SECR has increased his tracks to operate the mail / express train at 130kmph between Nagpur-Durg.” According to Kashyap, these works include strengthening tracks, curves, gradients, rail panels, electrical line adjustments (ohes), maintenance, removal of all drone railroad crossings etc.
SRDCM said to increase the next track of the Department of Engineering will prepare the DPR by saying from other departments such as commercial and signaling.
Central Railway has not increased its tracks to operate the train at 130kmph.
“The mail / express train runs at 110kmph while Rajdhanis operates at 120kmph.
The trial for 130kmph is in the process,” said a spokesman for the Central Railway & ACM Vijay Thool.
In accordance with Alok Patel, a specialist in railroad things, increasing tracks to run the train at a speed of 160kmph will not reduce the number of trains, such as those captured.
“As part of the project, the train will install the indigenous railroad protection system and automatic signaling,” said Patel.
“In addition, in many parts working on the third and fourth lines are ongoing which will increase the capacity of the line and hence, in the long run, more trains will be added.
Increase speed will help reduce travel time for popular trains like Durontos,” Patel said.
