Margao: Chocolate and noodles from Goa are a new consignment category that has been added by the cost of transportation on air-conditioned express trains.
“For the first time, the SWR utilizes the Idle AC coach to transport chocolate and other food products that need low and controlled temperatures during transit,” SWR spokesman said.
On Thursday, chocolate and noodles weighing 163 tons were loaded into 18 coach AC – 12 ac three levels and six ac two levels -From Vasco to Okhla in Delhi.
The AC Parcel Express Train will cover a distance of 2,115 km before reaching Delhi.
This initiative has picked up Railways RS12.8 Lakh’s income.
The SWR source said it was caused by the marketing efforts of the Business Development Unit (BDU) of the Hubballi division that this new traffic flow – which traditionally used the highway – has been captured by the train.
