Chennai: The Railroad Board once again checked the proposal to close the school run by a zone train that did not have a large number of students on their rolls.
The schools with a large number of students can be combined with Kendriya Vidyalaya, said the council.
In a letter issued on September 28, Mahesh Kumar Meena, Joint Director (establishment) on the Railroad Council wrote to the zonal train to assess the school managed by them.
This is in line with the board instruction which stipulates that ‘efforts must be made to progressively close the existing train school that is in accordance with the expansion of KVS and other nonratrilway schools.’ Finally, the train of the train will be transferred to Kendriya Vidyalaya, (KVS).
This was done to optimize the utilization of resources spent running the school, the letter stated.
“Quota for kids train employees may be given in KVS,” said the letter.
The letter has asked the zonal train to identify the train school that can be submitted to KVS and also close the school where the registration is small and where it is not feasible to combine it with other institutions.
Southern Railway runs seven schools (six of which are in Tamil Nadu), which has a total registration of 2627.
The amount given to them is around Rs 20 Lakh.
These schools are in layers, Arakkonam, Madurai, Tiruchirapalli, Erode, Potherbur and Palackad.
