The trajectory of cycling between Bijwasan and Rezangla Chowk was taken over by wild residents

Gurgaon: About two months after the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) limits traces of cycling and pathways on the road between Bijawan and Rezangla Chowk, the trail has been spread by residents and shop owners, defeating the operation goals of non-motorized infrastructure transportation (NMT).
When Tii visited the place, he found a parked vehicle inside the track and in some shop where the shop had appeared after breaking the separator block.
Chief Engineer GMDA MN Sharma cannot be contacted to comment on this problem even though it repeatedly.
Envantation and damage to the NMT track are repeated problems for metropolitan authorities and eliminating work done to encourage non-motorized transportation.
The GMDA model cycle lane on the road that connects his office and Subhash Chowk also saw illegal parking despite a lot of effort by the authority to check these examples.
Sarika Panda, who was involved with GMDA on several NMT infrastructure projects, said that parking and illegal encroachment could only be handled through a better design because it was impossible to monitor the 24×7 track.
GMDA has also planned three NMT-friendly intersections on the same stretch as part of a larger project.
As part of the project, the sign will be made at the intersection with pedestrian island that will allow pedestrians to cross the road safely.
The intersection will be redesigned according to the Guidelines for the Indian road congress.
“The current track is being made on the edge of the road that makes it easier for the vehicle to be withdrawn.
We need to have a buffer area on the roadside and then make a cycling track so that the vehicle cannot enter the track,” said Panda.
