Agartala: Trinamool Congress on Thursday held a massive demonstration in front of the police headquarters here to protest the alleged attack on its workers ahead of the November 25 election to the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and 19 other urban local agencies.
After the demonstration, the Delegation of the Trinamool leaders, led by members of the Rajya Party Sabha Sushmita Dev, the leader of the Bhowmik and Rajib Banerjee, met Deputy Inspector General (Southern Kisaran) RGK RAO and demanded direct action against the attackers for violence against opposition party workers and candidates.
Overcoming the protesters, Dev said that Trinamool had submitted several firs with the police crossing Tripura after a series of violent attacks on the party, but there was no arrest that had been made so far.
“The police have become a doll in the hands of the head of the head of Biplab Kumar Deb.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Thursday asked Tripura police to ensure that no political parties were prevented from carrying out their rights to campaigning for the election of the city that would come peacefully.
Dev said Trinamool wholeheartedly welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court, which would help everyone in his democratic tripura practice in peace and more enthusiastic.
“I thank the Supreme Court to intervene to ensure that the free and fair selection in Tripura.
Lawurlessness and the satisfaction of the Tripura Police have made a democratic taunts,” he tweeted.
The upper court passed the temporary order after hearing the submission of senior Gopal Sankaranarayan advocate, representing Trinamool, and Dev.
The request quoted alleged violence against party members and looking for directions to protect them for city polls scheduled for November 25.
Trinamool Tripura Unit, Bhowmik then told the media that so far, 13 Trinamool candidates, including women, have been attacked by women, have been attacked by BJP workers and their thugs in various parts of the country, but the police did nothing.

BJP Spokesman Nabendu Bhattacharjee accused that Trinamool had released a terrorist in West Bengal against BJP and brought a culture of violence in a peaceful tripura to slander the state government.
“The Trinamool ministers, lawmakers and leaders often come to Tripura, spend the lakh rupee they tighten from various Chit funds,” Bhattacharjee told the media.
The powerful BJP has won 112 (34%) of 334 seats undeniable at AMC and 19 other urban city agencies ahead of November 25 elections.
SEC official said that BJP has secured the majority in seven civil bodies – Jirania, Bazar, Mohanpur, Bishalgarh, Bazar, Udaipur and Kamalpur.
Officials said that now 785 candidates from various political parties, including BJP, left-LED CPM, Trinamool Congress and Congress, competed for 222 seats.
Vote counting will take place on November 28.
