Coimbatore: The eight-year-old boy was killed after a Tipper truck that knew him when he tried to cross the Chettipalalayam road here on Wednesday.
Chettipalalayam police identified the deceased as Sarvesh, son of Selvaraj, a resident of Anna Muthali Thottam Orattukuppai.
He is a class II student from a private matriculation school.
Police officers said Sarvesh went to school together with his brother on Wednesday on their school bus.
“Since the GS Ssyan District collector stated holidays for all schools, they took the bus back to the Aalamaram bus stop on Jalan Degani-Chettipalayam.
Sarvesh got off the bus and ran towards the opposite side of the road.
Meanwhile, a fast tipper truck, who tried following The school bus, hit the boy, killed him in place.
“When notified, Chettipalalayam police sent the boy’s body to Coimbatore Medical College and hospital for Postmortem.
They also registered a case against the truck driver and arrested him.
The deceased’s body was handed over to family members after the same afternoon autopsy.
Further investigation is active.
