New Delhi: two-wheeled dealers in Haryana now face the risk of cancellation of their dealers, if they do not provide a helmet to the buyer when selling a new motorcycle or install a message board that tells people that the helmet must be provided when buying two-wheeled vehicles .
According to the rules of the central motor vehicle, two-wheeled manufacturers must supply protective teeth, helmets, confirming the bus standards.
In a round issued for all district transportation officers and vehicle registration authorities, the Department of Transportation said, “Obviously, all registered dealers who sell two-wheeled vehicles are tied to supply standard helmets prescribed to two-wheeled buyers.” It is said that there are reports that some dealers do not comply with the provisions.
The department said it gave helmets to buyers along with their two wheels needed considering that wearing a standard helmet was mandatory for motorists.
The department has directed local officials to request all registered dealers to place flexible boards outside of their outlets that tell buyers that the helmet is supplied mandatory at the time of purchase.
Officers have been asked to take photos of boards and send them to the head office.
“The dealer that does not supply the headgear or not install the published flex board shows notifications to revoke the license for the dealer,” Circular said.
