Dubai: The Houthi Group that is in line with Iran Yemen attacks the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in what the group said was the operation using missiles and drones, establishing an explosion in fuel trucks that killed three people, including two Indians, and caused a fire near the Fire Airport Abu Dhabi, the capital of commercial hub and tourism in the region.
The strike on the Allies of the leading Arabian Bay of the United States took the war between the Houthi group and the coalition led by Saudi to a new level, and could block efforts to contain regional tensions as Washington and Tehran worked to save nuclear agreements.
“UAE condemns this terrorist attack by Houthi militia in the area and civil facilities in Emirati Land …
(that) will not be punished,” said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“UAE has the right to respond to this criminal terrorist and escalation attack.” UAE, a member of the coalition, has armed and well-trained local Yemeni troops who recently joined against Houthi in the Shabwa and Marib regions that produce Yemenic energy.
“With (nuclear) negotiators running out of time, the risk of setbacks in the security climate in this region has increased,” said Torbjorn Soltvedt, analyst at the Principal analyst at Risk Intelligence Company Verisk Maplecroft.
US Secretary Antony Blinken, in a telephone call with his Emirati partner, condemned the attack, the UAE state news agency reported.
Jake Sullivan National Security Advisor said Washington would work to hold Houtis’s accountability.
Houthis has often launched cross-border and drone missile attacks in Saudi Arabia, but has claimed some such attacks on the UAE, mostly rejected by Emirati Authorities.
Houthi Military Spokesman Yahya Sarea said the group fired five ballistic missiles and “a large number” of drones at Dubai Airport and Abu Dhabi, an oil refinery in Musaffah and several “sensitive” sites in the UAE.
Police Abu Dhabi said three people were killed and six others were injured when three fuel tank trucks exploded in the Industrial Musaff area near the Adnoc oil company storage facility.
The state media said those killed were two Indians and Pakistan.
The police said the initial investigation found parts of a small plane that might be a drone on sites at the Musaff and Abu Dhabi airport, but they did not mention missiles.
Adnoc said an incident at the fuels fuels depot at 10 am caused a fire.
The police closed the road to the area, where recordings that were not verified on social media had shown thick smoke.
“Adnoc was very sad to confirm that the three colleagues died.
The six further colleagues were injured and received a direct specialist medical treatment,” he said.
A spokesman for the Etihad Airways said a small number of flights were briefly disrupted at Abu Dhabi Airport because of “precautions”, but the normal operation was quickly continued.
Proxy Fightthe Saudi Led Alliance carried out air strikes in the capital Houthi held by Yemen Sanaa, said Witnesses Reuters said, after a strike in the UAE and after the coalition intercepted eight drones slid towards Saudi Arabia on Monday.
UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres condemned the attack on the UAE and urged “all parties to run the maximum restraint and prevent escalation”, said his spokesman.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said the attack threatened the stability of the region.
There were no comments directly from Iranian officials, but the Iranian Tasnim news agency reported it as an “important operation”.
Riyadh and Abu Dhabi have moved to be directly involved with Iran in recent months to avoid a broader conflict that can hurt regional economic ambitions.
The Yemeni war is widely seen as a proxy war between Sunni Muslim Saudi Arabia and Shi’ite Iran.
Houthi strike can frustrate UAE and wider Gulf dialogue with Iran, said UAE political analyst Abdulkhaleq Abdulla.
“The UAE will not take this lightly,” he said.
The attack coincided with the visit to the UAE by South Korean President Moon Jae-in.
A blue house official said the peak between the moon and the Abu Dhabi crown prince was canceled.
