New York: England will cause deadly tankers off the coast of Oman during the UN Security Council meeting on Friday, diplomats said, but the body of 15 members was not expected to take any action.
The England told the Security Council on Tuesday it was “very possible” that Iran used one or more drones to carry out a tanker last week, which killed two crew members – a British citizen and a Romanian.
“There is a lot of conflicting information.
The ‘very possible’ analysis, which we really refuse.
We need to set a fact …
we don’t need to rush into any conclusion or action without having evidence what has happened,” Deputy Ambassador Russian Dmitry Polyanskiy told reporters on Wednesday.
Tehran has denied involvement in Thursday’s attack on Mercer Street – a tanker of petroleum products owned by Liberia managed by Israel’s maritime zodiac.
The United States and the United Kingdom said on Sunday they would work with their allies to respond to the attack.
“We will do what is needed to ensure that there is accountability about this and that Iran is identified and handled at the Security Council,” Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield told MSNBC on Thursday.
