The Union Cabinet held the first physical meeting in more than a year

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the Union Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, his first physical meeting in more than a year.
Senior Minister Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh Nirmala Sitharaman and Nitin Gadkari are among the ministers who attended.

The source said the last cabinet meeting held physically was in the first week of April last year, when the Coronavirus pandemic hit the country.
However, the United cabinet has met regularly almost every week through video conferencing, even during locking.
The prime minister will also lead the ministerial meeting meeting at 4 noon through video conferencing.
This is the second time in a week that the Council of Ministers will meet after expansion on July 7, with induction of 43 new ministers.
The new council of the Ministers has met on July 8.
The source said the upcoming rainy season session may be one reason to often hold a meeting of the Ministers.
Monsoon session is set to start from July 19, and will continue until August 13.
Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla has called a meeting of all party leaders on July 18.
The BJP Parliamentary Party Executive Meeting is scheduled to be held in July in July.
