Bhubaneswar: The Minister of Science and Technology Union Jitendra Singh on Friday advised the Bhubaneswar Institute of Science (ILS) to promote 75 start-ups in commemorating 75 years of state independence.
He said this while leading an annual public body meeting from the Institute of Life Sciences Society.
Ils Bhubaneswar has established biotech incubators to promote entrepreneurship in the biotechnology sector.
So far it has held 20 start-ups in the fields of agriculture, nutrition, health and related areas.
Singh has advised the institute to promote more start-ups with the aim of creating skilled human resources and developing products as part of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Director of the Ajay Parida Institute during his presentation highlighted that ILS had tested Covid (more than three Lakh RT-PCR tests), 9000 sequencing genomes of samples collected from Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Maharashtra and the making of the symptomatic and covid patients asymptomatik.
He said the agency had developed a viral culture for Covid-19, and established a platform level 3 biosafety animals, drug discovery platforms, and immunogenicity platforms to help Covid research.
The Union Minister appealed to academic institutions, private industries and beginners to use this platform.
Among other things, the Minister of Science and Technology State Ashok Chandra Panda and ILS senior staff participated in the meeting.
Panda suggested the institute to include more aspirational districts, especially the Kandhamal District of Odisha in the future activities of ILS.
