New York: The United Nations Security Council has passed 2615 resolution proposed by the United States and allows money to flow to Afghanistan for humanitarian purposes, local media reported on Thursday.
Based on new resolutions, the US will relieve financial restrictions in Afghanistan for humanitarian purposes and will enable Taliban officials and their entities involved in the process, Khaama Press reports.
US special representatives for Afghanistan Thomas West welcomed moved by UNSC and said that they were together with the international community united to support the Afghan people.
“This morning, UNSC also unanimously passed resolution 2615, designed by the US and was designed to enable wider support for the basic needs of the Afghanistan people,” West said in a tweet.
Meanwhile, India has supported the UNSC resolution to provide release from sanctions for humanitarian assistance to a problematic country.
Worried about the fact that half the Afghan population faced acute food insecurity, the Indian Ambassador to the United Nations Tirumu on Wednesday (local time) said that India has supported the UNSC resolution to provide liberation for humanitarian assistance to a problem state.
“The humanitarian situation in Afghanistan is terrible.
We have seen reports that show that more than half the population faces the crisis or level of acute food insecurity, urgent humanitarian aid is needed to meet the basic food needs of the people, and most countries will be under the threshold of poverty,” Tirumuti said at the UN Security Council.
