Kabul: The Top US Commander in Afghanistan will submit his command at a ceremony in the Capital Kabul on Monday, when America ended the 20-year military presence and Taliban militants continued to get regions throughout the country.
Gen.
Gen Scott Miller is ready to transfer authority to Marine Gen.
Frank McKenzie, Head of the US Central Command, according to a US official who spoke with anonymous requirements to confirm the development.
McKenzie, also a four-star general, will operate from the main headquarters of the center in Tampa, Florida.
He will carry the authority to carry out the possibility of air strikes to defend Afghan government forces, at least until the US withdrawal ends on August 31.
His delivery ceremony occurred at the headquarters of firm support who was enriched in the heart of Kabul, at a quick time of territorial profits by Taliban militants throughout Afghanistan.
Afghan National Defense and Security, mostly funded by the United States and NATO, have put resistance in several parts of the country, but the enormous Afghan government forces seem to have left the fight.
In recent weeks, the Taliban had obtained several strategic districts, especially along the border with Iran, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
Taliban control is more than a third of 421 districts and the center of Afghan district.
A Taliban claims that they control 85 percent of districts are widely seen as excessive.
After Miller’s departure, the two-star Adamana based in the US Embassy in Kabul will oversee the role of the US military in securing the presence of American diplomatic in Kabul, including defending Kabul airport.
Miller’s departure did not reduce the scope of the US military mission in Afghanistan, because McKenzie would consider the authorities now held by Miller to carry out airstrikes to defend Afghan government forces in certain circumstances.
The condition where the strike can be used is unclear, it is also unknown for how long McKenzie will maintain the strike authority.
