The US announced USD 50 million in humanitarian aid to Myanmar

Washington: United States on Tuesday announced USD 50 million in critical humanitarian assistance to the people of Myanmar, including those who were forced to escape violence and persecution.
During the official visit to Thailand, the US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield announced humanitarian aid to Myanmar.
“This assistance will enable our international and non-government organizational organizations to provide emergency food assistance, saving saving protection, shelter, essential health care, water, sanitation, and cleanliness services to the people of Burma, including those who have fled Burma.
Or have been moved from their homes throughout Burma, “said the Ned Foreign Ministry spokesman in a statement.
In addition, the US Ambassador to the United Nations also announced USD 5 million in assistance to help Thailand against Covid-19.
“Help from Americans will enable humanitarian partners to help the most vulnerable population in Burma and Thailand, benefit more than 700,000 Burmese and contribute to the provision of humanitarian assistance that save lives,” said the statement.
Furthermore, the help of Covid-19 to Thailand will support health workers who manage vaccines and will strengthen the vaccine supply chain to help ensure that they achieve the most vulnerable population.
“We urge other donors to generously support the urgent humanitarian needs of the Burmese people.
We further urge the international community to join us in doing more to fight Covid-19 and bring a pandemic to the end – in Thailand and around the world,” That statement added.
Previously on Friday, the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) also stated that the big wave of Covid-19 infection currently soared throughout Myanmar to add hunger, because the family struggled amid jobs, rising food and fuel prices, political riots , violence and transfer.
WFP said it had estimated that the number of people facing hunger could more than double 6.2 million in the next six months, up from 2.8 million before February.
On February 1, Myanmar’s military overthrew the civil government and stated an emergency throughout the year.
The coup triggered a mass protest, which was canceled with deadly violence in this country.
