Covid-19 hospitalization in the United States reached a new high of 132,646, according to Reuters counting on Monday, exceeding the record 132,051 set in January last year, amid a very contagious surge of Omicron variants.
Inpatient continues to increase since the end of December, doubling in the last three weeks, as Omicron quickly overtook deltas as the dominant version of the virus in the United States.
Delaware, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, Vermont, Virginia, Washington DC, and Wisconsin have reported a recording of the Covid-19 patient level recently hospitalized, according to the analysis Reuters.
While potentially less severe health officials have warned that the number of infections caused by omicron variants can tense the hospital system, some of which have suspended elective procedures when they struggle to handle patient surges in the middle.
