Washington: The withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan will not be completed in the next few days, said US President Joe Biden on Friday.
“No,” Biden said when asked by the White House journalist if the withdrawal settlement was the distances, America’s voice (VOA) reported.
“We are on the exact track as we expected.
I want to make sure there is enough ‘running room’ which we will not be able to do it all until September,” he added, referring to the deadline of September 11 he gave a resolution of withdrawal.
Biden has set deadlines on September 11 for the last withdrawal of some of the remaining troops.
Previously, a US defense official confirmed that all US and international coalition forces had left the Bagram flying, the main American base in Afghanistan and that the base was handed over to Afghan national security forces.
Citing media reports, VOA reports that withdrawals from Afghanistan can be resolved by US Independence Day on Sunday.
On Thursday, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin spoke with Afghan defense minister Bismillah Khan Mohammadi, who said the United States was invested in the “security and stability of Afghanistan” as a complete withdrawal, CNN reported.
