The United Nations: The United States prompted the UN Security Council to impose more sanctions against North Korea following a series of North Korean missile launches, the US Ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, said on Wednesday.
“The US proposes UN sanctions after six North Korean ballistic missiles launched since September 2021, each of which violated the UN Security Council resolution,” Thomas-Greenfield posted on Twitter.
Previously on Wednesday the United States enacted unilateral sanctions on the launch of the missile.
It hood six North Korea, one Russian and Russian company, accused them of buying goods for programs from Russia and China.

Diplomats, talking to the terms of anonymity, said the United States has proposed five individuals also subject to a ban on UN travel and freezing assets.
This step must be agreed upon by consensus by 15 members of the North Korean Sanctions Committee Security Council, which includes Russia and China.
“We continue to coordinate with partners to prepare three individuals and additional entities appointed by the state for the UN nomination,” US diplomat said.
Since 2006 North Korea has experienced UN sanctions, which has been strengthened by the Security Council for years in an effort to target funds for Pyongyang nuclear and ballistic missile programs.
US President Joe Biden’s administration has failed to involve Pyongyang in a dialogue to persuade him to hand over his nuclear bomb and missile since Biden served in January last year.
North Korea continues to develop nuclear and ballistic missile programs during the first half of 2021 which violates UN sanctions and despite the country’s economic situation, UN sanctions reported in August.
