San Diego: Five missed people after the US Navy helicopter hit Tuesday in the ocean of southern California during routine flights from the aircraft carrier, military official said.
Search and rescue operations were launched after the MH-60 helicopter fell around 4:30 a.m.
About 60 miles of the sea from San Diego, the Pacific ARMAID of the Navy said in the initial statement.
Officials later said that a crew member was saved and “the search effort continued for five additional crew members.” The accident occurred when the plane “conducted routine flight operations,” according to the Navy.
It has risen USS Abraham Lincoln.
“Search and rescue operations are underway with many beach guards and air assets and naval surfaces,” said Tweet.
There are no other details available immediately.
MH-60S is a versatile aircraft that usually carries a crew of about four and is used in missions including combat support, humanitarian disaster assistance and search and rescue.
